UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

In 2014, Pakistan faced a number of major challenges, including:

🔥Thousands of deaths from heatstroke due to a lack of access to clean water and cooling systems
🔥Public protests in Karachi and other cities due to water shortages
The export of national wealth to foreign bottled water companies
🔥The spread of disease from the sale of unsanitary and substandard bottled water

In addition to these water-related challenges, Pakistan also faced a number of other social problems, including:

🔥Poverty
🔥Unemployment
🔥Public health issues
🔥Lack of education
🔥Shortages of electricity, gas, and petrol
🔥Gender discrimination
🔥Public order issues
🔥The absence of productive industries

In response to these challenges, a number of government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) took action in 2015. For example, the Edhi Foundation dug 300 graves in anticipation of the high death toll from heatstroke. NGOs also set up water stations (Sibeel) in cities to provide people with access to clean water.
In Karachi, people from all parts of the city took to the streets in protest to demand access to clean water. Vandalism and protests continued in various places. People were facing severe shortages of water. They could live for many days without taking a bath, but they could not survive a single day without clean water in the scorching heat.
Despite these protests, the government has done little to address the water shortage in Karachi. In fact, the situation has only worsened in recent years.
In 2015, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of ROplant.PK, began working on a solution to the water crisis in Pakistan. He wanted to develop a system that would provide clean water to everyone, regardless of their income or location.
Siddiqui’s solution is based on the concept of community-based water filtration systems. These systems are installed in neighborhoods and communities, and they are operated and maintained by local people.
Community-based water filtration systems have a number of advantages over traditional water delivery systems. They are more affordable, they are more sustainable, and they provide a greater level of control to local communities.
Siddiqui’s company, ROplant.PK, has installed thousands community-based water filtration systems in Pakistan. These systems have provided clean water to millions of people, and they have helped to improve public health and reduce the spread of disease.
In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly began the negotiation process on the post-2015 development agenda. This process culminated in the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Role of ROplant.pk and its Network of Water Shops in Sustainable Development
The year 2015 marked a turning point for Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of ROplant.pk. Inspired by the United Nations’ commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he embarked on a mission to establish a network of water shops across Pakistan. While seemingly a commercial venture, ROplant.pk’s impact extends far beyond profit, aligning with 11 of the 17 SDGs:

ROplant.pk has directly contributed to job creation, empowering over 700 entrepreneurs and employing thousands of individuals across the value chain, including plant manufacturers, bottle makers, label printers, water suppliers, and marketing personnel. This economic activity alleviates poverty and fosters financial stability at the household level.

ROplant.pk’s mission of providing clean drinking water directly addresses SDG 3. With 82% of Pakistan’s drinking water deemed unsafe for human consumption, ROplant.pk’s efforts to purify water through RO plants have significantly improved public health outcomes.

ROplant.pk has championed gender equality by employing equal numbers of men and women within its organization. Additionally, the company has eliminated gender discrimination by providing women with opportunities in traditionally male-dominated roles such as RO plant installation, goods delivery, tool usage, and motorbike travel. Moreover, ROplant.pk has ensured equal pay for both genders.

ROplant.pk’s core mission aligns directly with SDG 6 – providing clean water and sanitation. The company’s network of water shops has made clean drinking water accessible and affordable to communities across Pakistan.
ROplant.pk’s contributions to these SDGs extend beyond these specific examples. The company’s business model promotes environmental sustainability by reducing plastic waste associated with bottled water consumption. Furthermore, ROplant.pk’s social responsibility initiatives include providing clean drinking water to marginalized communities and supporting educational programs.
In conclusion, ROplant.pk’s impact on sustainable development goes beyond its commercial success. The company’s commitment to providing clean drinking water, creating jobs, promoting gender equality, and fostering environmental sustainability has made a tangible difference in the lives of millions of Pakistanis. ROplant.pk serves as a shining example of how businesses can align their operations with SDGs, driving positive change and contributing to a more sustainable future.

By establishing a network of water shops, ROplant.pk has created thousands of jobs, empowering individuals and stimulating economic growth. The company’s model has also helped retain national wealth by reducing the outflow of funds to foreign bottled water companies.

ROplant.pk introduced the concept of water shops to Pakistan, paving the way for a new industry based on small-scale units. The company’s franchising model has provided opportunities for entrepreneurs to establish their own businesses.

ROplant.pk’s use of a big brand name has helped level the playing field for water shop owners, allowing them to compete with established bottled water brands. The company’s legal and marketing support further empowers shopkeepers.

ROplant.pk’s community RO plants have addressed water shortages in Pakistani cities, particularly in Karachi, promoting sustainable urban development. The network of water shops has also fostered community connections.

ROplant.pk’s use of RO plants to convert seawater or underground water into usable water exemplifies responsible consumption and production practices. The company ensures that half of the raw material is returned to the ground, minimizing environmental impact.

By providing access to clean drinking water, ROplant.pk has helped reduce social unrest and promote peace and order in Pakistan. The company’s job creation has also contributed to stability.

ROplant.pk’s network of water shops plays a crucial role in achieving the SDGs. The company’s partnership model with shop owners fosters collaboration and shared responsibility.
ROplant.pk’s Impact on Sustainable Development
ROplant.pk’s contributions to sustainable development extend beyond its core business of providing clean drinking water. The company’s efforts have positively impacted job creation, economic growth, poverty reduction, gender equality, and social harmony. ROplant.pk serves as a model for businesses that can effectively align their operations with the SDGs, driving positive change and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Conclusion
ROplant.pk’s story demonstrates the power of business to drive positive social and environmental change. The company’s commitment to sustainable development has transformed the lives of millions of Pakistanis, providing access to clean water, creating jobs, and fostering community resilience. ✅ERS SURVEY (Water Finder)

Electrical resistivity of the soil can be considered as a proxy for the spatial and temporal variability of many other soil physical properties (i.e. structure, water content, or fluid composition). Because the method is non-destructive and very sensitive, it offers a very attractive tool for describing the subsurface properties without digging. It has been already applied in various contexts like: groundwater exploration, landfill and solute transfer delineation, agronomical management by identifying areas of excessive compaction or soil horizon thickness and bedrock depth, and at least assessing the soil hydrological properties. The surveys, depending on the areas heterogeneities can be performed in one-, two- or three-dimensions and also at different scales resolution from the cent metric scale to the regional scale. In this review, based on many electrical resistivity surveys, we expose the theory and the basic principles of the method, we overview the variation of electrical resistivity as a function of soil properties, we listed the main electrical device to performed one-, two- or three-dimensional surveys, and explain the basic principles of the data interpretation. At least, we discuss the main advantages and limits of the method.
